About

A bigger sound from the workshop tradition.

The ensemble

The Collective performs in six- and seven-piece configurations depending on repertoire, personnel and venue. Its book draws on classic standards, vocal features, instrumental blowing tunes and arrangements developed in the workshop.

Where it began

The Collective was formed at North Star Jazz Workshops, where collaboration, listening and exploration of the jazz tradition are at the heart of the program.

The quartet

The Collective’s rhythm section and alto saxophone also perform as Take Your Time, a quartet available for corporate and private events.
